Kyrgyzstan has transitioned to a single-dose vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV). This announcement was made today during a press conference by Gulbara Ishenapisova, the head of the Republican Immunoprophylaxis Center.

According to Ishenapisova, the changes to the vaccination schedule were made based on the recommendations of the scientific and technical expert group on immunization.

It is worth noting that HPV vaccinations in Kyrgyzstan were first administered to 11-year-old girls starting in November 2022. Medical professionals claim that this measure effectively prevents cervical cancer.

Previously, the vaccine was administered in two doses with a six-month interval.
