Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Edil Baisalov, chaired a meeting with relevant state bodies to discuss the epidemiological situation regarding measles in the country. The Cabinet's press service reported that as of April 17, 2024, there were 8,209 cases of measles in the country, with 37.5% of the cases being children whose parents refused vaccination.

According to the Ministry of Health, there has been a 1.8-fold decrease compared to the previous week. The coverage of preventive vaccinations against measles, mumps, and rubella in the country reached 96% for the first dose and 92.7% for the second dose among children last year.

Baisalov instructed the Ministry of Health to enhance efforts in preventing measles and vaccinating children. He emphasized the need to intensify vaccination efforts, improve sanitary measures, and enhance control in medical institutions to prevent measles infections.

The Ministry of Health is tasked with proposing measures to increase the accountability of parents who refuse vaccination against serious infectious diseases. Baisalov highlighted the principled stance of the state on vaccination and stressed the importance of educating the population on the significance of vaccinating children against measles and other serious diseases.

Following the meeting, relevant state and local authorities were instructed to strengthen preventive and anti-epidemiological measures to combat measles effectively.
