In Kyrgyzstan, the incidence of measles has started to decrease, as reported by the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis.
According to their data, as of May 7, a total of 9,509 cases of measles have been registered. Measles mostly affects children under 1 year of age (before receiving the first dose of the vaccine according to the immunization schedule of the Kyrgyz Republic) and those aged 1 to 8 years.
The Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis reminded that according to the immunization schedule, routine immunization against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) is carried out in Kyrgyzstan at the age of 1 year (first dose) and 2 years (second dose). Additionally, the country is conducting a campaign for additional immunization against measles and rubella in response to the outbreak of the diseases.
