Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are planning to sign a treaty to deepen and expand their alliance, including joint actions in case of a military threat. The draft agreement, titled "On the Signing of the Treaty on Deepening and Expanding the Allied Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic," has been published on the portal "Open Regulatory Acts."
According to the draft agreement, in the event of a situation that "poses a threat of armed aggression from third countries, the contracting parties will immediately hold consultations with each other on a bilateral basis and within international organizations of which they are members, with the aim of taking measures to contribute to its peaceful settlement."
The document states that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan "confirm the commitment not to participate in any blocs or alliances, as well as refrain from taking actions against the other contracting party."
The territories and resources of both countries should not be used "for the preparation or implementation of aggression, or other hostile actions against the other contracting party, as well as to the detriment of the state sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the other contracting party."
Additionally, according to the draft agreement, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan undertake not to allow the use of their territories "by third countries for the preparation or implementation of armed actions against the other contracting party."
The draft document also includes provisions for strengthening the economic ties between the two countries, particularly "by creating favorable conditions for mutual access to goods, services, and investments, their protection on the territories of their states, and the implementation of joint investment projects."
The project does not specify when or where the agreement may be signed.
