Kyrgyz singer Askat Zhetigen, who made inappropriate remarks towards the country's leadership in a video, has been arrested for two months on charges related to mass disorder. Two expert examinations were conducted on his social media live broadcasts.
The National Security Committee detained Askat Zhetigen on March 17 for criticizing the authorities, leading to a criminal case under the charge of "Incitement to violent seizure of power." Following his detention in Naryn, he was transferred to Bishkek and held in a pre-trial detention center for 48 hours. Subsequently, he was released by the Pervomaysky District Court with a written undertaking not to leave.
In a statement after his release, Askat Zhetigen expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz people for their support and stated that he is ready to take responsibility for his words. He criticized the authorities, referring to them as 'ekidos' and emphasized the people's expectation of justice and order when bringing them to power.
