The press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan has announced the detention of five foreigners from Azerbaijan who are members of a transnational criminal group. The individuals identified are V.M. Aliyev, S.A. Baghirov, M.O. Asgarov, M.S. Bekhbudrov, and Z.I. Mammadov.
According to the report, operational data has revealed that M.O. Asgarov, known as a "vagrant" in the criminal world, along with his associates, arrived in Kyrgyzstan to bolster the criminal environment, propagate thief ideology, and elevate their status by planning an assassination attempt on the country's leadership. This plan was reportedly in response to the government's active efforts against organized crime, which have had repercussions in the post-Soviet region, as outlined by the State Committee for National Security.
These criminal intentions arose amidst the State Committee for National Security's initiatives to combat criminal ideology and implement state policies among detainees, prisoners, and the general populace, leading to dissatisfaction among foreign criminal figures.
The five men were apprehended on March 22, and investigative actions are ongoing to ensure their accountability in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
