Kyrgyzstan Confirms Detained Alisher Kasimov Not a Citizen: Businessman Arrested in Connection with Terrorist Attack

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has confirmed that Alisher Kasimov, a former citizen of Kyrgyzstan, renounced his citizenship in 2014. Therefore, diplomatic and consular missions of Kyrgyzstan in Russia are not responsible for protecting his rights and interests.

Alisher Kasimov, a businessman from Krasnogorsk, was implicated in renting out an apartment to suspects involved in the terrorist attack at the "Crocus City Hall". Kasimov claimed in court that he was unaware of the terrorists' plans and simply rented out the apartment through the "Avito" service. The Basmanny Court ordered his arrest pending investigation.

On March 22, a terrorist attack occurred at the "Crocus City Hall" near Moscow, where thousands had gathered for a concert. Four individuals in camouflage attire, unmasked, entered the building and opened fire at close range. Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack.

According to preliminary information from the Russian Investigative Committee, 139 people lost their lives in the attack.
