Two Citizens Detained for Spreading Extremist Materials on Social Media

The press service of the Batken region's Internal Affairs Department reported the detention of a citizen who was distributing materials of a religious extremist and terrorist organization on social media. According to expert analysis, the materials belong to the banned "Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan." A criminal case has been initiated under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, and a 32-year-old resident has been detained as a suspect.

The suspect had previously faced criminal charges in 2021 for financing terrorist activities. Additionally, his 34-year-old sister had traveled to Syria for war in 2013. Following investigative measures to identify other individuals involved, a 28-year-old resident of the Kadamjay district has been detained for disseminating extremist and terrorist materials on social media related to the prohibited terrorist organization "Jamaat At-Tauhid wal Jihad." A criminal case has been initiated under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The investigation has been completed, and the case has been sent to court for further proceedings.
