Kyrgyz Police Detain Extremist Group Member in Issyk-Kul Region

The press service of the Issyk-Kul Region Police Department has reported the arrest of a member of the extremist movement "Hizb ut-Tahrir". According to the police, the Jeti-Oguz district police received information that a man was spreading ideas of "Hizb ut-Tahrir", a banned organization in Kyrgyzstan.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 332 of the Kyrgyz Criminal Code for "Manufacturing and Distributing Extremist Materials". The 51-year-old resident of Ak-Terek village, A.A., was detained, and a sanctioned search of his house led to the confiscation of literature, laptops, and printers.

A judicial-theological examination confirmed that the seized literature contained ideas of the banned organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir-Al-Islami". Additionally, the man was found to be spreading extremist propaganda on social media.

During the investigative period, the suspect A.A. was placed under arrest for two months by the district court as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
