A video depicting the arrest of a resident of the Jalal-Abad region has circulated widely on the internet, sparking discussions among the public. Following an investigation, the Chief of Police of the Jalal-Abad region, Zhenish Abitov, and his deputy, Ilyas Kasymbayev, have been relieved of their duties for actions that tarnished the reputation and dignity of law enforcement officers, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.
Additionally, the same order imposed disciplinary measures on 13 senior officials of the Jalal-Abad region police department. The National Center for the Prevention of Torture condemned the arrest of a father and son at the market in the town of Kochkor-Ata as cruel treatment and has addressed the Prosecutor General's Office.
