Turkey has revoked the visa-free regime for Tajikistan citizens, according to a decree issued by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The decision was made in accordance with Article 18 of Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection, as reported by RBC citing the official gazette of the republic, Resmi Gazete.
The reasons behind the decision have not been disclosed. This move comes after Turkey conducted several raids against ISIS supporters following the terrorist attack on March 22 at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. Among those detained was a 37-year-old Tajik citizen, Fazildzhon A., who was allegedly planning an attack in Turkey with the assistance of a 41-year-old Kyrgyz citizen, Zulfia S.
Fazildzhon A., also known by the code name Abu Ismail, was supposed to be the perpetrator of the attack, with Zulfia S. aiding him. Both individuals had been affiliated with ISIS for an extended period. Fazildzhon A. has been arrested, while a decision has been made to deport Zulfia S.
On March 22, a terrorist attack took place at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow where thousands of people had gathered for a concert. Preliminary reports indicate that four masked individuals in camouflage entered the building and started shooting at people at close range.
