South-Western Customs Intercepts Illegal Import of Around 26 Tons of Copper

The South-Western customs authorities intercepted an illegal import of approximately 26 tons of copper. Officers from the department combating smuggling and customs violations stopped a Volvo FH500 vehicle driven by a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, T.A.A. The inspection of the vehicle's cargo compartment revealed 25,941 kilograms of copper smuggled from Uzbekistan.

The seized goods have been placed in temporary storage, with a total value estimated at 14,267,550 soms, resulting in a 2,546,758 soms damage to the state. The incident has been recorded in the ERP JUI information system, and the collected materials have been forwarded to the Jalal-Abad region prosecutor's office for further action.
