Justice Served: Court Sentences Murderers of Crime Boss in Bishkek

The October District Court of Bishkek has handed down sentences to the individuals involved in the murder of crime boss Chyngyz Jumagulov, also known as Doo Chyngyz. The court's press service announced the verdict.

- Danir Shukurov, who was in charge of overseeing the detention center in the capital, was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

- Sanjar Saparbekov received a 17-year and 3-month prison term along with a fine of 15,000 som.

- Ernis Kubanychbekov was given 13 years in prison and fined 150,000 som.

- Mohamed Zamirbekov was sentenced to 13 years in prison and a fine of 150,000 som.

- Suymyk Birimkulov received a 20-year prison term.

- Dooronbek Asanbek Uulu was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Two employees of the detention center, T.J. and T.A., were fined 1 million som. A.Uulu M. and B.J. were sentenced to one year in prison but were released from criminal liability due to amnesty.

Chyngyz Jumagulov was killed on July 30, 2022. According to preliminary information, his cellmate inflicted multiple stab wounds and slit his throat. Previously, the crime boss was detained by the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) for organizing a criminal group and extorting large sums of money from entrepreneurs. The murder case was transferred to the court in January.

There were 10 defendants in the dock, including Sanjar Saparbekov, who was previously convicted for the murder of former presidential administration head Medet Sadyrkulov, as well as employees of the Penitentiary Service. The defendants in the case also include Danir Shukurov, Ernis Kubanychbekov, Mohamed Zamirbekov, Suymyk Birimkulov, and Dooronbek Asanbek Uulu.
