Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Enhance Border Cooperation in Guliston Meeting

A meeting of working groups from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place in Guliston, Sughd Region of Tajikistan to implement Protocol No. 42 dated September 25, 2022. The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported on the event.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the protocol aimed at stabilizing the situation on the border territories of the two countries, as well as coordinating joint activities in the field of protecting the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. They highlighted the active development dynamics of cooperation and interaction between the two republics in ensuring border security, as well as the high level of bilateral dialogue achieved in recent times.

The parties expressed confidence that constructive and mutually beneficial partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan serves the long-term interests of the two nations and is a key factor in ensuring peace, stability, and security in the countries. Opinions were exchanged on the implementation of protocols from the meetings of the heads of border agencies. In this context, they reaffirmed their commitments to making progress in implementing the agreed-upon measures.

The activities of the border representation offices and competent authorities of both sides aimed at implementing a set of measures to fulfill the points of Protocol No. 42 were highly appreciated. The importance of further expanding and deepening Kyrgyz-Tajik relations, ensuring timely and full implementation of the agreements reached, and enhancing cooperation in the field of border security were emphasized. At the end of the meeting, the parties signed the corresponding protocol.
