Election Integrity Concerns Raised by Head of National Security Committee

in National Security / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, emphasized in an interview with "Kadam-MEDIA" that he does not endorse any of the candidates running for the Supreme Council. Several members of the Supreme Council have had their mandates revoked due to their associations with Raim Matraimov. Currently, parliamentary elections are underway in the Osh, Kara-Suu, and Batken electoral districts.

Tashiev cautioned against believing candidates who claim to have the support of the authorities, stressing that such statements should not be trusted. He warned that candidates who engage in illegal activities, such as vote-buying or other violations of the law, will be held accountable. Tashiev referenced the Lenin electoral district, where election results were invalidated as a consequence of irregularities.

Tashiev reiterated that the authorities do not meddle in the electoral process and are committed to ensuring that elections are conducted in compliance with the law. Candidates who falsely assert the endorsement of the president or government will face legal repercussions.
