in National Security / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Minister of Emergency Situations, Boobek Azhikeev, addressed the recent landslides in southern Kyrgyzstan during a parliamentary committee meeting on international affairs, defense, security, and migration. He highlighted the impact of heavy rains over the past four days, which resulted in tragic consequences, leading to the loss of one life in a powerful mudflow incident. The driver tragically lost his life, while passengers in the vehicle, including a woman, a child, and another individual, were successfully rescued.

Azhikeev sought permission from parliamentarians to excuse himself from the meeting due to the urgent situation. It is important to mention that a state of emergency has been declared in the Osh region. The severe mudflows affected nearly 50 households in the Suzak district of Osh and Jalal-Abad regions.
