The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has commented on the publication in the media about the mass refusal of entry to Russia for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
"As of May 2, there have been no reports of mass refusals of entry to the Russian Federation for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic received by the diplomatic representation and consular offices of Kyrgyzstan in Russia. However, the ministry and overseas missions are monitoring the situation in the Russian Federation and its impact on the legal status of Kyrgyz citizens," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the ministry once again recommends that citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, unless there are compelling reasons, temporarily refrain from traveling to Russia until the previously introduced additional security measures and enhanced border control regime are lifted. If necessary, it is advised to check in advance for any entry restrictions.
In case of unforeseen circumstances or emergency issues, citizens of Kyrgyzstan should contact the embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia at the following hotline numbers:
- +79251155047;
- Consular Department of the ministry: +996999312002.
Human rights activist Valentina Chupik, who deals with migrant issues from Central Asia, informed the Russian publication "Agency" that citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are being denied entry to Russia. Similar measures were previously taken against migrants from Tajikistan.
According to Valentina Chupik, Russian border guards have been massively refusing entry to the Russian Federation in recent days not only to citizens from Tajikistan but also from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Migrants are being turned back not only at airports but also at ground checkpoints.
