Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) Kamchybek Tashiev commented on the incident with fishermen at the Kempir-Abad reservoir during an interview with the "Seventh Channel" TV channel.

A journalist informed the head of the security services that recently two boats with border guards arrived at the reservoir from the neighboring side and drove away two fishermen. In response, Kamchybek Tashiev noted that the agreement with Uzbekistan is fully in force.

"Citizens of Kyrgyzstan can freely use the water, fish in the reservoir, and water their livestock there. I spoke with my Uzbek colleague, we summoned their head of the Border Service and found out that two Kyrgyzstanis were fishing. They could have been detained, but instead they were put on a boat and escorted to our land," he said.

The head of the GKNB also added that from now on both Kyrgyz and Uzbek border guards will detain citizens for illegally crossing the state borders and inform their colleagues about it. Additionally, fishing with nets is prohibited not only in the territory of the Kempir-Abad reservoir, but throughout the entire republic.
