Kyrgyzstan Detains Man for Fighting in Syria Against Iraqi Government

In Bishkek, a 31-year-old man was detained for fighting in Syria against the government forces of Iraq. This information was reported by the press center of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).

The citizen of Kyrgyzstan, M.U., was remotely recruited by an international terrorist organization during labor migration abroad. Subsequently, in 2015, he moved to Syria through Turkey, as stated in the report.

According to the state committee, M.U. underwent sabotage and combat training in the militant camps in Mosul, Iraq, and later participated in combat actions against the government forces of Iraq on the side of the terrorists. The man is currently placed in detention at the GKNB pre-trial detention center.
