The Embassy of Pakistan in Kyrgyzstan reported no casualties among its citizens as a result of the overnight protests against foreigners that took place on the night of May 17-18, 2024, in Bishkek.

Earlier, some Pakistani media outlets published information about three people being killed in the incident. The Pakistani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan noted that this information has not been confirmed.

The Embassy recommends Pakistani students to stay at home until the situation normalizes.

The Embassy of India in Bishkek also issued a similar recommendation for its citizens.

"We are in touch with our students. Currently, the situation is calm, but students are advised to stay at home for now and in case of any problems, contact the embassy," the statement said.

The spontaneous protest against foreigners, which began yesterday evening in Bishkek, ended only in the early hours of May 18. The police managed to negotiate with the participants of the protest, and they opened Chui Avenue, dispersing shortly afterwards.
