The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has summoned the head of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Islamabad to discuss the recent incident in Bishkek. According to details provided by Dunya News, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic issued a press release expressing deep concern over the incident and emphasizing that the Pakistani government is in constant contact with the authorities of Kyrgyzstan to ensure the safety of its citizens.
The press release also highlighted that the Pakistani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has set up a hotline for emergency assistance to affected students and for communication with their parents.
The spontaneous protest against foreigners that began yesterday evening in Bishkek lasted until the early hours of May 18. The police managed to negotiate with the participants of the protest, leading to the reopening of Chuy Avenue, after which the crowds dispersed. According to the Ministry of Health, 29 people were injured during the protests.
Following the brawl on May 13 at a hostel, which was one of the triggers for the protests, the police detained four Egyptian citizens. A criminal case has been initiated under the article of "Hooliganism" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
