Russia to Allocate 2.1 Billion Rubles for Rehabilitation of Kyrgyzstan's Tailings Dams

During a meeting of the parliamentary committee on international affairs, defense, security, and migration, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Azamat Mambetov announced that Russia will allocate 2.1 billion rubles for the rehabilitation of Kyrgyzstan's tailings dams.

Mambetov stated that the reclamation of the Kadji-Sai tailings dam in Issyk-Kul and Min-Kush in Naryn regions is nearing completion. Kyrgyzstan currently has 92 tailings dams, with 60 of them under the Ministry of Emergency Situations' supervision.

"As per our request, Russia will additionally allocate 2 billion 141 million rubles. According to the draft agreement submitted for approval, these funds will be used for work and equipment delivery, exempt from taxes. Rehabilitation will be carried out on five sites: Kadji-Sai, three tailings dams in Sumsar (Chatkal district), two in Kadamjay, one in Kyzyl-Zhar (Tash-Kumyr), and one in Nookat," said Azamat Mambetov.

After deliberation, the deputies approved the agreement between the Kyrgyz government and the Russian government on cooperation in rehabilitating areas of Kyrgyzstan affected by uranium and ore mining activities.
