In early April, Ankara canceled visa-free travel for Tajikistan citizens. Following the terrorist attack at "Crocus City Hall" in Russia, Tajik journalist Mahpora Kiromova shared her observations upon arrival in Istanbul.
Despite initial concerns, the flight was full and proceeded smoothly, albeit with a 3-hour delay due to a storm. Upon landing, passengers from Tajikistan were directed to a separate booth for passport control. A staff member collected their passports, causing some panic among the travelers. Eventually, documents were returned, and passengers continued to the main passport control area. Men and women were separated for further questioning.
Despite the confusion and delays, all passengers were eventually allowed to proceed. Some passengers, including Kiromova's acquaintance, were subjected to additional questioning by the police. Photography was prohibited, and phones were checked for recordings. The fate of those questioned further remains unknown.
