On the occasion of Victory Day, each participant and disabled veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 residing in the capital will receive 10,000 somoni. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Dushanbe mayor's office.
It is worth noting that currently, there are only 3 participants of the Great Patriotic War remaining in Dushanbe.
Meanwhile, in the Sughd region, each war participant will receive payments of around 7,000 somoni, as announced by the head of the Council of War and Labor Veterans at the regional hukumat, Shavkat Aliyev. Additionally, labor veterans will receive 4,000 somoni.
In total, the authorities of the Sughd region have allocated 306,000 somoni this year to support the heroes.
According to the Council of War and Labor Veterans of the republic, last year there were 43 veterans, although the media reported 37.
In 2005, Tajikistan had 9,900 WWII veterans, in 2020 - 168, in 2021 - 98, and in 2022 - 59 participants of the Great Patriotic War.
"Over 19 years, 9,875 veterans of the Great Patriotic War have passed away," as previously announced by the Council.
It is important to note that this year in Tajikistan, there will be no military parade dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day on May 9.
This information was provided by the Ministry of Defense spokesperson, Faridun Mahmadaliev. The reasons for canceling the event were not disclosed. It is also currently unknown whether the "Immortal Regiment" march will take place.
"The date of the 'Immortal Regiment' march this year is currently unknown. There are no directives regarding this matter yet. If there are any updates on the march, we will inform you," stated the Dushanbe mayor's office.
