In the city of Sarygash, Kazakhstan, a ceremony was held on April 20th to transfer humanitarian aid from Tajikistan to the population affected by floods in Kazakhstan, as reported by the Tajikistan Committee of Emergency Situations (CES).

Rustam Nazarzoda, the General-Colonel of the Tajik CES, emphasized that the aid to the fraternal Kazakh people was provided on the direct instructions of the country's president, Emomali Rahmon.

The humanitarian aid includes food products, drinking water, and construction materials. A total of 3.5 thousand tons of aid from Dushanbe and Khujand was sent to Kazakhstan on over 60 wagons and 13 trucks.

Representatives from Kazakhstan expressed their gratitude to the Tajik people for the assistance provided during this challenging time.

On April 12th, Emomali Rahmon had a phone conversation with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, discussing the situation related to the spring floods in several regions of Kazakhstan. Rahmon instructed the Tajik government to urgently prepare a shipment of humanitarian aid for the affected population in Kazakhstan, including essential goods.

Previously, seven trucks carrying humanitarian aid were sent to the North Kazakhstan region by representatives of the Tajik-Kazakh Cultural Center.

As of April 20th, the CES reported that over 21,000 people in the flood-affected regions had returned to their homes. However, 8,786 individuals, including 3,814 children, remain in evacuation centers. Water has been drained from 4,534 residential buildings and 2,763 yards, while 5,862 private homes and 1,065 yards are still flooded in the Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, Atyrau, and North Kazakhstan regions.
