Tajikistan Expands Visa-Free Entry to 25 Countries, Simplifies Process for Others

The list of countries for unilateral visa-free entry and visa simplification for citizens of certain countries to Tajikistan has been expanded, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The government resolution of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 28, 2024, No. 190 "On Amendments to the Government Resolution of October 26, 2021," added 25 new countries to the list of nations whose citizens can enter Tajikistan unilaterally without a visa for up to 30 days. Some of the newly added countries include Andorra, The Bahamas, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ireland, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, Oman, Romania, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Vatican City, and Palestine (for diplomatic and official/special passports).

Furthermore, a list of 16 foreign countries has been approved by the government, allowing citizens over 55 years old to utilize the unilateral visa-free regime to enter Tajikistan for up to 14 days. Countries on this list include Albania, Algeria, Barbados, Vanuatu, China, Dominica, Fiji, Laos, Lebanon, Madagascar, Morocco, North Macedonia, Nicaragua, Panama, Tunisia, and Vietnam.

As per the government resolution of March 28, 2024, No. 188 "On Amendments to the Resolution of January 25, 2017, No. 31," 14 countries have been included in the list of nations whose citizens can obtain visas to Tajikistan in a simplified manner. Some of these countries are Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Sudan, Madagascar, Palestine, Haiti, Uganda, Syria, Iraq, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Congo.

This measure will come into effect on May 1, 2024. It is important to note that citizens of the listed countries entering Tajikistan for purposes such as work, study, permanent residence, or other non-touristic reasons for more than 14 or 30 days must apply for the appropriate visa in advance.
