In the city of Tobolsk, Tyumen region of Russia, a student from Tajikistan studying at a medical college detonated a firecracker at a polling station. However, according to the Telegram channel Baza, this was not a protest against the elections; rather, he wanted to "return" his almost two million rubles stolen by scammers.
On March 15, unknown individuals called 22-year-old Tajikistan native named Doniyerdzhon, pretending to be law enforcement officers, and informed him that his accounts were in danger. "The student was persuaded to take out several loans, after which he transferred 1,880,000 rubles to the scammers using bank terminals," reports Baza. "Later, the criminals told the student that he could get the money back only if he detonated a firecracker at a polling station."
The young man went to a fireworks store, bought a firecracker, and headed to the polling station located at the Lytsman Gymnasium in the city's seventh microdistrict. "While committing the crime, he received a torn wound on his left hand and abrasions on his forehead, after which he was detained," the message said.
As noted by Baza, the Tajikistan native may face criminal charges for obstructing the exercise of electoral rights.
