A recent study revealed that the average salary of a labor migrant from Central Asia in Moscow is 54.5 thousand rubles (around $597 or slightly over 6.5 thousand somoni). The research titled "Labor Migration from Central Asia in Modern Moscow: Adaptation, Legalization, Rights Protection" conducted in 2023, shared its findings through the Human Rights Commissioner in Moscow, Tatiana Potyaeva.

In the fall of 2023, the ombudsman's office surveyed 900 migrants aged 18 to 60 from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The survey unveiled that half of the respondents work without an employment contract and receive cash payments bypassing official records.

Approximately 44% of migrants share housing expenses. Only 3.7% of foreign workers in Moscow have private health insurance, and nearly a quarter of respondents avoid seeking medical help even in urgent situations.
