in National Security / Tajikistan - by

After the terrorist attack at "Crocus City Hall" on March 22, which led to the arrest of Tajik citizens, control and pressure on migrant workers in Russia have intensified.

Interviews were conducted with compatriots who returned from Moscow to understand their reasons for returning. Upon arrival at the airport, a crowd awaited their relatives from Moscow. Many declined to speak to journalists, but some mentioned that their relatives did not face any pressure while in Russia. They explained that their loved ones were returning only for the holiday and were living and working as usual.

Tajik citizens who arrived from Moscow mentioned that regular document checks have become a common occurrence for migrant workers. Despite the increased control, many stated that they did not experience any significant problems.

One passenger shared that he returned due to pressure, having to close his workshop and facing deportation of his employees over minor document issues that could have been easily resolved earlier. He mentioned that Russian authorities were strict this time, deporting everyone immediately without allowing for resolution.

Now back home, the man is uncertain about supporting his family. Some interviewees faced checks but encountered no issues with proper documents.

Many arrivals preferred not to openly discuss the reasons for their return, asking not to be disturbed and avoiding interaction with journalists.
