A delegation from Tajikistan, led by the director of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety, Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda, visited the customs of Uzbekistan on April 17-18 to explore and expand cooperation.
During the visit, the Tajik side learned about the work of the Customs Service, took a tour, and discussed the operation of radiation portal monitors (RPM) and X-ray systems at the Yalama border crossing point with the Uzbek side. These systems play a crucial role in preventing the illegal circulation of radioactive materials and ensuring the security of the regional supply chain.
Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda praised the implementation of advanced technological tools to protect the neighboring country's borders. He highlighted the potential for mutual learning to enhance capabilities in combating CBRN threats.
The delegation also visited the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, where they met with the leadership and learned about the digitalization processes implemented to streamline customs operations.
The digital transformation initiatives observed provide valuable experience that Tajikistan aims to replicate. This collaboration will undoubtedly strengthen the national security system and contribute to safer cross-border operations.
The visit laid the groundwork for future cooperation to enhance CBRN security measures on both sides of the border.
