The situation with citizens of Tajikistan stranded in Moscow airports remains complex, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 28th.
According to the ministry, as of April 27th, there were 954 citizens of Tajikistan in the temporary holding area at Vnukovo Airport, including students studying at Russian universities.
The authorities added that after hours of waiting at the border, 322 citizens of Tajikistan managed to enter Russia. However, another 306 individuals are reportedly set to be included in the so-called "deportation list" by the Russian authorities.
A similar challenging situation is observed at Zhukovsky, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo airports, where dozens of Tajik citizens are being held without proper conditions.
Due to the lack of sufficient hot meals for the stranded citizens of Tajikistan, Tajik diplomats in collaboration with diaspora representatives are providing food at Vnukovo Airport. Additionally, a round-the-clock operational headquarters has been set up by the consular service of the Tajik Embassy in Moscow to provide necessary assistance to compatriots on the ground," the statement noted.
On the evening of April 27th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan urged citizens to refrain from traveling to Russia.
Prior to this, following a meeting between the Deputy Head of the Ministry Sodik Imomi and the Russian Ambassador Semen Grigoryev, the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern to the Russian side regarding reports in the media about "unfounded cases of refusal" of Tajik citizens to enter the Russian Federation.
Since April 22nd, around 180 vehicles with Tajik license plates have been stuck at the Kazakhstan-Russian border in the Orenburg region.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the checks on Tajik citizens at the border with Kazakhstan were initiated due to the ongoing terrorist threat.
