Tajikistan Protests Russian Actions: Stranded Citizens Face Entry Denials and Delays

in National Security / Tajikistan - by

Today, on April 29, in the first half of the day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan handed a note of protest to the Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Semen Grigoryev. According to the note, it was emphasized that "such actions are applied exclusively in relation to Tajik citizens, which is fundamentally incompatible with the spirit and traditions of Tajik-Russian relations."

Earlier, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sodik Imomi, met with the Russian Ambassador, expressing concern about the unjustified cases of Tajik citizens being denied entry to Russia.

The situation with Tajik citizens stranded in Moscow airports remains complex, as reported by the Tajik Foreign Ministry on April 28 on its official website. According to the ministry, as of April 27, there were 954 Tajik citizens in the temporary holding zone at Vnukovo Airport, including students studying in Russian universities (no data available for today). The ministry added that after hours of waiting at the border, 322 Tajik citizens were eventually allowed to enter Russia. However, another 306 individuals are reportedly planned to be included in the so-called "deportation list" by Russian authorities. Similar situations are observed at Zhukovsky, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo airports, where dozens of Tajik citizens are being held without proper conditions.

On the evening of April 27, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan advised citizens to refrain from traveling to Russia.

Since April 22, around 180 vehicles with Tajik license plates have been stuck at the Kazakhstan-Russian border in the Orenburg region. Today, subscribers sent a video showing a huge queue of cars and buses at the Kazakhstan-Russia border.

Tajik citizens are forced to wait for a long time for entry into the Russian Federation. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the checks on Tajik citizens at the Kazakhstan border were initiated due to the preservation of terrorist threats.
