Dozens of testing centers in Russian cities no longer administer exams on the knowledge of the Russian language for labor migrants. Starting from May 1, 2024, by the order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, only universities are authorized to conduct these exams.
Without passing this exam, foreign citizens will not be able to obtain a work permit or residency permit. According to the Ministry of Education of Russia, these restrictions and measures will help strengthen control over the quality of exams for foreign citizens.
Currently, there are 12 universities across Russia authorized to conduct exams for foreigners, along with one organization under the Moscow government. The list of these universities can be found on the official portal.
It is important to note that universities do not administer the exams themselves. For this purpose, a separate testing center is located on the university campus.
