In a recent meeting with representatives of the public and religious figures on March 9th, Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon addressed the increasing number of terrorist acts committed by Tajiks in other countries. Rahmon stated that such acts damage the reputation of the state and its people on the global stage.
According to the president's press service, in the past three years, 24 Tajik citizens have carried out terrorist acts in 10 different countries, including bombings in crowded places. President Rahmon reminded that suicide goes against the principles of Islam.
He emphasized that these actions are often manipulated by interested groups and intelligence services in other countries, exploiting the ignorance and lack of experience of young individuals. Despite the Supreme Court's ban on 28 extremist and terrorist organizations in the country, cases of joining such groups still occur.
Rahmon reported that in the last ten years, 6680 crimes with extremist and terrorist characteristics have been identified and registered in the country, including 86 terrorist acts and attempted attacks, with 11 cases being prevented.
Currently, 4075 individuals are wanted for extremist and terrorist activities. The president urged the prosecutor's office and other law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to repatriate and reintegrate these individuals, providing employment opportunities and adaptation assistance.
In 2023 alone, 300 cases of illegal religious education were uncovered, preventing the recruitment of over 4100 individuals, highlighting the escalating efforts to indoctrinate children, teenagers, and youth. President Rahmon concluded by stressing the importance of combating these challenges to ensure the country's stability and security.
