in National Security / Tajikistan - by

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is conducting a strategic command-staff exercise from March 12 to 13 to address the stabilization of the situation in the Central Asian region amidst an increasing threat of a crisis. This was announced to journalists by the press secretary of the CSTO United Headquarters, Vladislav Shchegrikovich, as reported by TASS.

The exercise is being led by the Chief of the CSTO United Headquarters, Lieutenant General Andrey Serdyukov. According to him, this exercise is a key event in preparing for the command-staff training with the CSTO peacekeeping forces under the name "Indestructible Brotherhood-2024," scheduled for the autumn of this year in Kazakhstan.

The exercise has created a military-political and strategic environment, incorporating a number of hypothetical scenarios and changes in the names of states and international organizations. It simulates one of the escalation options of potential threats in the organization's area of responsibility, foreseeing the emergence of a crisis situation in a hypothetical state in the Central Asian region of collective security.

Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Secretary-General of the CSTO, noted that the exercise is taking place in a complex international environment. He emphasized that modern crises are increasingly acquiring a hybrid nature and require comprehensive approaches for their resolution. One of the main objectives of the exercise is to refine the algorithm of collective anti-crisis actions and assess their effectiveness in line with the provisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council decision of November 23, 2023, on "Measures to Develop the CSTO Crisis Response System."
