Volunteers have discovered discrepancies in the state procurement system in Almaty, as reported by "24KZ." According to this source, activists identified price mismatches for modular rest areas for public transport drivers. The actual cost of the goods was half of the declared amount, leading to an overestimation of procurement costs by 137 million tenge. This deal was eventually canceled.
"I want to note that since the beginning of the year, the Anti-Corruption Service of Almaty, through monitoring the 'Unified Procurement Window' portal and sending relevant letters to government agencies, has saved over 3 billion tenge. Work in this direction continues. Currently, the prevention of the irrational use of over 1.2 billion tenge is expected," said Kanat Salimbayev, Acting First Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Service of Almaty.
Earlier, it was reported that on March 14, 2024, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan reported on measures taken to ensure legality in the field of state procurement and budget spending. In 2023, over 2,500 violations were identified in the field of state procurement.
