Jury Selection Completed in Case of Former Kazakh Minister Accused of Murder

On March 27, 2024, in Astana, the selection of jurors took place in the case of former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, accused of the murder of his civil wife Saltanat Nukenova.

The press service of the Supreme Court made a statement, announcing that 12 jurors had been selected for the trial, 10 primary and 2 alternates.

The next court session, scheduled for 4:00 PM on March 27, 2024, will be held in open court.

On March 11, 2024, the initial trial took place where the prosecution presented the investigation's version of the events leading to the death of Saltanat Nukenova. According to the indictment, on the day of the murder (November 8, 2023), Kuandyk Bishimbayev and Saltanat Nukenova were at a concert in the capital where an argument ensued between them. Despite this, they went to a restaurant together where the conflict escalated, resulting in the beating and death of Saltanat Nukenova.
