Former Deputy District Akim of Shymkent Sentenced for Corruption

In Shymkent, a former deputy district akim of the metropolis was convicted, as reported by the RK Agency for Anti-Corruption on April 2, 2024.

The verdict was announced on April 1 by the specialized inter-district court for criminal cases in Shymkent regarding:

- Deputy akim of the Enbekshinsky district Tlenshin E.;

- Chief specialist of the same akimat Balkybekov A.;

- Representative of the subcontracting organization Manat A.

The verdict was announced in the presence of the convicted individuals' former colleagues. The specified individuals have been sentenced to 11, 10, and three years of imprisonment, respectively. They have been found guilty of receiving a bribe in the amount of 60 million tenge from an entrepreneur in a group conspiracy for patronage in carrying out landscaping work in the metropolis under a state procurement contract, as well as embezzling 28 million tenge of budget funds allocated for cemetery maintenance.

It is also reported that the individuals are permanently banned from holding positions in public service. According to the report, at the initiative of the Anti-Corruption Service, groups of civil servants accused of corruption participate in court hearings for preventive purposes.
