The official spokesperson of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan, Arman Tleukenov, announced during a briefing on March 6, 2024, that the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports in the Atyrau region is suspected of accepting a bribe.
According to the spokesperson, the Anti-Corruption Service in the Atyrau region is investigating a criminal case against the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports in the region.
"The official is suspected of receiving a bribe amounting to 1.2 million tenge from a subordinate organization, from funds allocated for athletes to attend training camps," Arman Tleukenov continued.
He noted that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
It is worth mentioning that Dastanbek Kospаnov has been holding the position of the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports in the Atyrau region since July 2023.
