A Milan court has ordered an investigation into "Giorgio Armani Operations" over suspicions of labor exploitation and hiring illegal migrants. Violations were found in the production of bags, leather goods, and accessories for the Armani brand. Inspectors discovered several underground factories where foreign citizens, mainly from China, were illegally employed. The workers labored for up to 15 hours a day, earning only two euros per hour. The flow of migrants was facilitated through corrupt connections, bypassing safety and hygiene measures, with no reported cases of injuries.
The company, yet to comment on the court's decision, is not under investigation. The measure taken is described as disciplinary and preventive. A consultant has been appointed to work with managers on improving the situation for a year. Meanwhile, on April 23, the global market will see the launch of a joint collection by Victoria Beckham and Mango.
