Authorities in Kazakhstan Conducting Investigations on Floods, Anti-Corruption Agency Reports

The official spokesperson of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Daniyar Bigaidarov, announced during a briefing that the prosecutor's offices are currently conducting investigations into the floods in the country. He mentioned that significant efforts are being made to eliminate the floods nationwide, particularly in the West Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions.

Bigaidarov highlighted the active participation of the Anti-Corruption Service in the flood elimination efforts and emphasized that the issue is under special control regarding the detection and prevention of flood-related incidents.

According to him, the Anti-Corruption Service continuously monitors the allocation and utilization of budget funds. He also mentioned that additional information will be provided on the identified facts related to the floods after further investigation by the prosecutor's offices.

Previously, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported the evacuation of 96 thousand people from flood-affected areas. It is worth noting that on April 6, 2024, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan stated that they are investigating the causes of flooding in specific settlements, as well as the destruction of roads, bridges, hydraulic structures, and other facilities.
