The Aktobe regional prosecutor's office has uncovered illegal spending of budget funds earmarked for road markings on the city's roads. According to a report on April 17, 2024, in 2023, a contract was signed between the State Institution "Center for Road Traffic Safety and Digital Technologies of the city of Aktobe" and a road marking association in Aktobe for a total amount of 213.3 million tenge.
Upon completion of the contracted work, the full payment was made by the center. However, a subsequent inspection revealed that the center had unlawfully transferred 45.5 million tenge of budget funds to the association for repairing damaged road markings within the warranty period.
In response, the Aktobe prosecutor's office has launched a pre-trial investigation under Article 361, Part 1 ("Abuse of Official Powers") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The case has been passed on to the Anti-Corruption Service of the Aktobe region for further investigation and decision-making.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Service reported an increase in budget revenues from special economic zones from 10.6 billion to 91.3 billion tenge as a result of anti-corruption monitoring.
