Police have detained the director of the More Life charity fund in Kazakhstan, suspected of misappropriating funds collected for children's medical treatment. Several residents of Aktobe filed complaints against representatives of the More Life fund.
According to the police, the fund's director allegedly took money under the pretext of helping to raise funds for medical treatment. Six victims are involved in the criminal case, with a total damage of over 30 million tenge collected by concerned citizens.
In one case in 2023, a contract was signed between the fund and parents of a child in need of treatment. After collecting the necessary amount, the fund sent the parents and the child for treatment in Minsk, Belarus, without any money. The fund failed to transfer the money under various pretexts. As a result, the child did not receive the necessary treatment, and the parents were left without assistance in another country.
A pre-trial investigation is underway for fraud. International requests have been sent for investigative actions. The suspect has been placed in temporary detention. Authorities urge anyone affected by the fund's actions to contact the police immediately.
