Anticorruption Agency Holds Meeting to Discuss Progress and Achievements

Under the chairmanship of Asqat Zhumaqali, the Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan held a meeting to review the first quarter of 2024. The meeting addressed the monitoring of budget allocations for flood relief efforts. The Anti-Corruption Service conducted 69 analyses and monitoring activities, making 565 recommendations to mitigate corruption risks.

Preventive measures, including contributions from volunteers, prevented the irrational use of funds totaling over 17 billion tenge. In the current year, the Anti-Corruption Service registered 488 criminal offenses, exposing 296 individuals involved in corruption, including 59 leaders at various levels. Over 188 billion tenge in damages has been recovered from completed criminal cases.

As part of the agenda, Asqat Zhumaqali emphasized the importance of monitoring the budget allocated for flood prevention activities in the regions. Central and regional leaders are focused on preventing budget embezzlement during disaster response and stopping any misuse or manipulation of government support funds.

The head of the Anti-Corruption Service also instructed to ensure round-the-clock receipt of statements and reports from the public regarding possible fraud and extortion related to compensating citizens for damages. On April 17, 2024, the Anti-Corruption Service announced that as a result of monitoring Specialized Centers for Social Services (specCZON), budget revenues increased from 10.6 billion to 91.3 billion tenge.
