In Aktobe, the director of the More Life public foundation was arrested on suspicion of embezzling funds intended for children's treatment. According to the Aktobe region prosecutor's office, the police are conducting pre-trial investigations based on statements from several victims regarding the director of More Life under Article 190, Part 2, Clause 4 of the Criminal Code for embezzlement on a large scale. The funds collected by the foundation were meant for the treatment of disabled children.
In 2023, the director of More Life Foundation, Zh., allegedly signed a contract with one of the victims to collect funds amounting to 30 million tenge for the treatment of a minor, A., diagnosed with cerebral palsy. After collecting 22 million tenge, the suspect, Zh., sent the victim and the minor to Minsk, Belarus for treatment. However, upon arrival, the victim discovered that the collected sum had not been transferred to the medical institution.
The victims were received for a personal meeting by the regional prosecutor in connection with the criminal case. The investigation is under strict control by experienced personnel, and an operational-investigative group has been formed. The director of the More Life public foundation has been detained in accordance with Article 128 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and a measure of restraint in the form of detention for two months has been authorized.
At present, pre-trial investigations are ongoing to determine the number of all affected individuals and the extent of the damage caused. Earlier reports indicated that the police had apprehended the director of the More Life charity foundation on suspicion of misappropriating funds collected for children's treatment.
