The Anti-Corruption Service has reported the sentencing of a judge and bailiff from the Talgar District Court in Almaty Region. The Ilisky District Court in Almaty Region delivered the verdict for Judge Baigaliev and Bailiff Raimbekov.

Judge Baigaliev was found guilty of accepting a bribe of 2 million tenge through the bailiff to alter the conditions of medical measures for a person who committed a serious crime against a minor's sexual integrity. Baigaliev was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Bailiff Raimbekov was fined 20 million tenge and permanently banned from holding any public office.

As per Article 41 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan, failure to pay the fine within the specified period will result in imprisonment. This is another significant conviction following the sentencing of Judge Abdrakhmanova from the Specialized Inter-District Economic Court in Almaty Region to 4 years in prison for corruption in January 2024.
