On March 7th, the head of Department No. 57 of the Department of the Penitentiary System in Almaty and Zhetysu regions was arrested on suspicion of bribery.
The suspect is currently being held in a temporary detention facility.
The details of the case are not being disclosed in the interest of the ongoing investigation, according to the press service of the Committee of the Criminal Executive System.
According to open sources, Department No. 57 is located in the village of Zarechnoye in the Almaty region.
Earlier this year, video cameras were installed in all police departments in Kazakhstan to enhance transparency and accountability.
