Former Akim of Satpaev, Shapagat Aubakir, who was convicted of a bribe in the amount of 10 million tenge, tried to appeal the verdict.

The press service of the Ulytau region court informed about it.

"By the decision of the appellate judicial college of the regional court, this verdict was upheld without changes, the appeals of the convicted Aubakir Sh., his defense lawyer, and the prosecutor's appeal were dismissed," the message said.

It was previously reported that the court found that in February of this year, Shapagat Aubakir, while holding the position of akim of Satpaev, received a bribe from a local entrepreneur who was carrying out road maintenance works in the city. In exchange for a reward of 10 million tenge, the former akim promised the businessman to assist in increasing the amount of the state procurement contract and its extension. Both defendants admitted their guilt and asked the court to impose a punishment not related to imprisonment. The former akim of Satpaev was sentenced to three years and six months of imprisonment with a lifelong ban on holding public office positions.
