in Corruption / Kazakhstan - by

The Department of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Zhambyl region has announced the completion of an investigation into TOO "Kazfosfat" following a consumer complaint.

During the analysis of the company's activities, violations of antimonopoly legislation were identified, specifically related to the establishment of monopolistically high prices for liquid oxygen. This violation undermines the principles of a competitive market and goes against the interests of consumers in Kazakhstan.

According to a ruling by the specialized court on administrative offenses in Taraz, TOO "Kazfosfat" has been held accountable under Article 159, Part 3 of the Republic of Kazakhstan Code on Administrative Offenses. The company has been fined 1,203,300 tenge, and the monopoly income amounting to 8,344,170 tenge has been confiscated. This information was disclosed in a statement published on the APDC website on May 2, 2024.

The court's decision has been finalized, and the fine has been paid in full.

On April 13, 2024, it was reported that the National Center for Expertise and Certification was fined nearly 600 million tenge.
