Employees of the Procurator's Office in the Turkestan region have uncovered a scheme involving the embezzlement of more than 24 million tenge at the employment center and the village akimat of Atameken in the Zhetysai district.

It was found that local executive officials fictitiously engaged individuals in public work, including within the framework of youth practice. "More than 30 individuals who were registered as unemployed did not actually perform any public work and were unaware of it. Officials illegally issued orders for their employment and independently transferred salaries on a monthly basis to their accounts in Kazpost JSC and banks, which were subsequently cashed out by other individuals," the statement on March 12, 2024, said.

According to the supervisory authority, employees of the center and the akimat documentarily engaged their relatives and acquaintances in public work. "The materials have been registered in the information log by the regional Procurator's Office and have been transferred to the territorial Anti-Corruption Service for pre-trial investigation."

On February 21, 2024, it was revealed that embezzlement of 160 million tenge had been uncovered in one of the schools in Almaty.
